Introduction

A disappointing, cluster-muck of a Royal Rumble, the events first foray into Pittsburgh eventually descended into disarray, which mad rebooking lead to some success booked a stellar Wrestlemania 30.

But onto the match: Batista would return late in the match and eliminate last Roman Reigns to book his place in the main event. Reigns would beat Kane’s record of most eliminations in a match with 12, and CM Punk – who reportedly quit the promotion the next day – would be the iron man, lasting nearly 30 minutes.

However, the match was famous for who wasn’t in it. Daniel Bryan – who had been riding a wave of popularity since the previous summer – was notably absent from the match. When the last entrant was Rey Mysterio, the crowd turned, slamming the booking decision to give the match to Batista. Retrospectively, it’s considered a mistake, and Bryan eventually would be added to the main event of Wrestlemania 30, and win the world title.
