Introduction
The second Royal Rumble at the Tropicana field in 2024 was the Men’s Royal Rumble. The story coming in surrounded 2 men: Cody Rhodes pushing to “Finish His Story” with a second shot against Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania, and a newly returning CM Punk to compete in the main event of Wrestlemania, returning in his first match on TV for the WWE for 10 years.
In the end Cody last eliminated Punk to win in a fair-to-middling Royal Rumble. Notable moments included an R-Truth comedy spot where he was convinced it was a tag-team match, a return to the WWE for Andrade, and an impressive performance from NXT’s Bron Breakker, who eliminated 4 men on his debut. It had an impressive final 4, with Cody, Punk, Gunther & Drew McIntyre, but it was felt there wasn’t really anything to get it going until Rhodes’ entrance.

- Although all the talk of CM Punk wrestling his first televised match in 10 years, he isn’t the only competitor to go 10 years between consecutive Royal Rumble entries: Jimmy Uso last Royal Rumble before 2024 was the 2014 match as well.
- This rumble, and the 2024 women’s Royal Rumble, saw the second time a married couple drew the same number. Jimmy Uso drew number 2, the same as Naomi. Becky Lynch & Seth Rollins both drew number 15 in the 2023 women’s and men’s Royal Rumble respectively.
