The 2025 Royal Rumble will take place this Saturday 1st February from Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana. This is the first Royal Rumble to take place from the venue. On the card there will be two Royal Rumble matches, a men’s and a women’s Royal Rumble. This guide will preview the men’s match.
It’s unlikely Kane’s record of eliminations is to be overtaken in this match, as the man with the most eliminations in the match announced so far (John Cena) is 20 eliminations behind. However a number of people could get close to Chris Jericho’s time in the match. Of the names announced Rey Mysterio would need to go 55 minutes to overtake Chris Jericho. Randy Orton – who hasn’t been announced for the match yet – could theoretically compete and would need about 25 minutes to overtake Y2J. Both are unlikely to occur.
A number of wrestlers could increase their time to over 3 hours spent in cumulative time in the Royal Rumble match: of the names announced – John Cena, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins are each about a quarter of an hour to 20 minutes away from the feat. Drew McIntyre could also break that feat, although he is 40 minutes away. Of the names that aren’t announced, Kofi Kingston is also about 15 minutes away from the 3 hour mark.
Roman Reigns could enter the top 5 of most eliminations in the Royal Rumble with 4 eliminations. If Reigns eliminates 6 people, he will make himself third in the list of top threats in the Royal Rumble. Bron Breakker could make a big impact with a number of quick eliminations and be high on the most efficient Royal Rumble competitors.
A fun stat is associated with the Iron Men of the Royal Rumble. If the Iron Man draws number 1 (which has happened 15 times before), then it will set a record of the most consecutive drawings of the same number for the Iron Men. From Edge in 2021 to Jey Uso last year, every Iron Man has drawn number 1 (Drew McIntyre came from number 16 in 2020). There had been 4 consecutive years that the Iron Men have drawn number one as well from 2011 to 2014, so if the Iron Man is #1, there will be a new record.
So who’s going to win? I’m torn between two announced names: CM Punk and John Cena feel the most likely to win. My head says John Cena is going to win, but it feels potentially quite an open field, with a number of previous winners already announced. Who do you think? Please leave your thoughts in the comments.
