Introduction
The final Royal Rumble of the pandemic era in the WWE, the 2021 Royal Rumble took place in The Thunderdome in front of a crowd of zero. In the match, the hall of famer Edge last eliminated Randy Orton to book a match against Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania 36.
This match had a number of potential winners coming in, Daniel Bryan & Shinsuke Nakamura were amongst the favourites. However amongst the standout performers was Damien Priest – an NXT competitor who had a strong showing eliminating a number of competitors including Kane, who himself extended his total eliminations tally.

- This was the third time that the first two competitors were the last in the match, the other times were 1999 and 1995
- Christian made his return to the Royal Rumble, a year after his long time tag team partner Edge did. Although he retired after Edge, Christian had not been in a match since 2005.
- Edge is the first member of the Hall of Fame to win the Royal Rumble.
