Introduction
The 2012 Royal Rumble saw a return to the much more popular 30 man format, as opposed to the 40 man format in 2011. Strong showings were from The Iron Man of the match The Miz, Cody Rhodes with the most eliminations and the relatively surprising winner Sheamus, who last eliminated Chris Jericho to claim his first victory.
Notable moments in the match include the fact that all 3 commentators: Booker T, Jerry Lawler & Michael Cole, took part in the match. Cole, surprisingly, doing the best. However he was eliminated by Kharma – the former Awesome Kong – who made her only WWE match appearance to date.
Amongst the individuals who made their debut in this match were Jinder Mahal: who would later go on to become WWE Champion, and Jey Uso: who would headline Wrestlemania 39. Sheamus didn’t get such glory, beating Daniel Bryan in the opener. A match that gave birth to the “Yes” movement.
