Introduction
Coming from Phoenix for the first time ever, the 2013 Royal Rumble was in all honesty a bit of a foregone conclusion. Setting up an eventual “passing of the torch” from The Rock to John Cena, Cena dominated the match, last eliminating hot rookie Ryback to become the number 1 contender to the championship, which was won by The Rock in the main event against CM Punk.
Other standout performers were Ryback, who was with Sheamus for the most eliminations in the match, and Dolph Ziggler who was the iron man. Cody Rhodes and a returning Chris Jericho also gave strong performances in the match.
